The music, art, people and places that shaped our landmark album are being celebrated by the waterfront museum in Based On A True Story the 20th Anniversary Exhibition, 22 November to 8 March 2026.
"It really feels like a high-five to the Wellington music scene and the city as a whole” Chopper Reeds says.
We've dug deep for BOATS era taonga for the exhibition. MU's MPC 2000 and Fulla Flash's 'Bessie' sax, the fish 'n' chip menu board from the Wandering Eye music video set, original stencils, stamps, photos, posters, videos, black books and Hopepa's All-Star yellow tracksuit, all made the cut.
